Our Journey with Hull 001: Behind the Scenes of the New Sabre 51

The day started early—3:30 AM early—as we hit the road from the Portland area, fueled by coffee and excitement. The night before, we prepped our cameras and batteries to ensure we were ready to capture every moment of this milestone: the transport of Hull 001 of the new Sabre 51 from Rockland to Building 3 in Raymond, Maine.

Cruising up 295 and Route 1, the quiet roads set the tone for the day ahead. Once we arrived in Rockland, we had some time before the transport truck showed up, so I gave Taylor a tour of the Sabre factory—a behind-the-scenes look at where craftsmanship meets innovation. As we waited, we finalized our shot list, making sure we had every angle covered once the hull was loaded onto the truck.

With the route mapped out, we pinpointed a perfect bridge for a dramatic shot of the hull in transit. Racing ahead, we staked out our spot and waited for the truck to appear. The moment it crossed the bridge, we secured the glory shot we’d envisioned. From there, we drove ahead of the convoy, capturing epic highway shots that showcased the magnitude of moving such an iconic vessel.

We reached Building 3 in Raymond ahead of the transport, positioning ourselves to capture the hull’s arrival. Watching Hull 001 being unloaded and carefully pushed into the factory was a sight to behold—this was where the magic would continue. With the hull secured, the next step is delivering the deck, and soon the full production process will be underway.

Despite the early morning, it was an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to hit the road again with the Sabre and Back Cove family to capture more moments like this.
